No not this one
This one
All for that last reason. My DD is a shithole 2001 Taurus, worth between $500 & $1000 probably. Recently my only key went missing and I’m about to the point of giving up, so I decided to hit the Internet to look at my choices. Choice one: tow to dealership and pay several hundred dollars for two keys to be programmed to my car. Choice two: pay several hundred dollars for a tuner and then figure how the hell to get a key cut.
TL;DR
Fuck Ford PATS, it screws you over in the long run

If it’s anything like GM’s system it can be bypassed. I’ve done it, it was easy.

GM was less of a pain and a cheaper. I recall my parents dealing with it with their ‘02 century.

I wired the chip out with some resistors.

That's the plan if the key is ever found.
